The first step is to learn conceptually about rules, coverage, and floor responsibilities.   Effective development includes watching yourself through a video recap with a skilled trainer pointing out strengths and opportunities for improvement.

History and Value

Each year for over a decade the staff of the 3B’s Officiating Camp have taught officials from Oregon and Washington the finer points of wearing the stripes. We’ve helped hundreds of officials to be ready for tougher games and to advance their careers. Class time is interspersed with on-court officiating of both JV and Varsity boys teams.
Every camper goes home with a digital video from one of their games including real-time comments from a tournament-level observer. Campers are also provided food, beverages, and snacks each day.
We work in conjunction with a top team camp bringing in the top talent from both states each year. Instructors and observers include tournament-level officials from Portland and other associations.
A no-host gathering on Saturday night also provides some off-duty camaraderie and unofficial instruction from actual experiences.
